Following on from the success of last year, this year’s Festival of Food and Drink at Clumber Park looks set to be bigger and better than ever if that was possible!
Set in the heart of Robin Hood county in beautiful Sherwood Forest, you can eat, drink and be Merry (geddit?) with an impressive range of exhibitors which include Great Taste Award winning producers, The School of Artisan Food, competitions which include a Bake Off and loads mouth watering food to sample, all against the fantastic backdrop of the National Trust property and with live music and entertainment thrown in.
Exhibitors from around the UK and Europe will have something for everyone from Artisan produce to craft beers and will include (to name just a few) the Yorkshire Hotdog Company, Romanos Coffee, Coriander Garden, Spice N Tice, Swift Bakery, The Tea Experience, Pinkster Gin, Cracking Cookies, Mistry & Co, Routemaster Bus Bar, Snowdonia Cheese, The Falafel Wagon, The Friday Beer Company, The Duck Truck…phew, the list goes on, making this an excellent opportunity to meet the producers behind the brands.
Headlining the free Cookery Theatre are two of the ‘This Morning’ well known chefs, Phil Vickery and Marcus Bean. Both chefs will be showcasing their culinary skills with recipes and tips.
Phil Vickery has been part of the popular daytime show for over 14 years and is regarded as one Britain’s favourite chefs. Since starting his career as a Commis Chef in Folkstone, Phil worked his way up the ranks to Head Chef . A position which saw him earn a Michelin star, 4 Rosettes in the ‘AA Guide’, the ‘Good Food Guide’s’ Restaurant of the year, ‘The Times’ Restaurant of the Year, ‘Egon Ronay’s Guide’ Dessert Chef of the Year and ‘British Meat Chef of the Year’ amongst many awards. Phil began his TV career on the Breakfast Programme filling in for Keith Floyd before going onto appear on ‘Ready Steady Cook’, ‘Proof of the Pudding’, his own series ‘Phil Vickery’s Pudding Club’ and of course ‘This Morning’.
You can catch Phil in the Cookery theatre on Saturday.
Sunday sees fellow ‘This Morning’ Chef Marcus Bean doing three cookery sessions. Self taught chef Marcus, who’s first television experience was as a contestant on Channel 4’s Iron Chef, has also appeared on ‘Drop Down Menu’ and ‘What’s Cooking’ and now also runs his own Cookery School in Shrewsbury.
