Mayhem are very excited to announce their first two films and their first guest for this year’s festival!
Steve Barker will be joining the fun for a Q&A following a screening of his new film, The ReZort. Described as Westworld meets The Walking Dead, The ReZort is set in a world where humanity has defeated a zombie apocalypse, and moved on to offer a Zombie Safari – a chance to hunt and kill the walking dead in a controlled environment.
Also on the line-up is Italian gritty and grimy superhero movie They Call Me Jeeg Robot, which sees a petty criminal transformed and given superpowers after falling into Rome’s toxic Tiber River. But his plans to use his powers for crime fall apart after being mistaken for a 1970s Japanese anime by a woman he saves from mobsters and becoming the target of the criminal underworld.
“We’re putting together another fantastic and diverse line-up for this year’s festival, explains Mayhem Co-Director, Steven Sheil, and we’re really happy to be screening these two films, which offer great new spins on the zombie and superhero genres. We’re also looking forward to bringing Steve Barker to Mayhem for the first time to present The ReZort, the first of a number of special guested events we have planned for the festival.”
This year’s edition will take place at Broadway Cinema on 13-16 October. Early Bird Passes for the festival are still available at the discounted price of £60, so grab yours now by clicking HERE.
Oh, and you still have two weeks to submit your scary short films for free too. Just send a link to a full screener of your film to mayhemfilmfest@gmail.com before midnight on Friday 19 August.
