Selfies and sculpture are at the heart of the Frink exhibition currently at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, with visitors to the gallery using the hashtag #GetYourFrinkOn to share their selfies and tweets.
Since November, the Djanogly Gallery has been hosting a major exhibition of Elisabeth Frink’s work, showcasing more than 70 public sculptures, drawings and never-before-seen archive material loaned from collections across the UK.
The extremely popular exhibition has generated excitement online, with visitors to the collection tweeting their experiences and taking selfies with the works of art.
Sofia Nazar-Chadwick, head of audience development and marketing at Nottingham Lakeside Arts, said: “We have received a really positive response from the public to this exhibition of Frink’s work. It is great that local people are engaging with the art on social media, as we love to see our visitors have fun at our exhibitions.
“We will be sad to say goodbye to the works at the end of February, but there is still time for anyone to visit the exhibition for a first time or make a second visit! It is fantastic to see the positive response to Frink online and we will be awarding a £10 voucher for the gallery’s shop to the #GetYourFrinkOn with the most shares online!”
The eclectic collection includes celebrated subjects of Frink’s distinctive expressive bronzes – male figures, heads, metamorphic bird and beast shapes and animals.
Running until Sunday 28 February 2016, visitors to the exhibition have the opportunity to join free guided tours and attend lectures with curator Annette Ratuszniak on 3 February 2016.
