Duncan MacGregor, the contemporary colourist, will be visiting Whitewall Galleries Nottingham this week (13 November) to showcase his newest, previously unseen paintings at an exclusive event.

Nottingham’s Flying Horse Walk will host the evening of celebration to mark the launch of the Scottish artist’s collection of limited edition landscapes and collectable editions.

Claire Parsons, art consultant at Whitewall Galleries, is looking forward to what is sure to be a packed event.

“We’re excited to welcome Duncan back to Nottingham. This is his second time at the gallery, his first visit was in 2013 and it was a fantastic turnout which we are expecting to emulate this year,” said Claire.

“Duncan’s paintings are extremely popular due to their contemporary style – he uses palette knifes to create a heavily textured effect, they are truly beautiful paintings. The quality of his work is extremely high and proof of his commitment and integrity.

“Sailing images and seascapes are what Duncan is most renowned for. He’s lived an incredible life, having spent 18 months sailing across the Atlantic in his own boat so his art is very reflective of that,” added Claire.

Recently, the celebrated artist has taken to painting on glass to create a multi-layering effect, taking a subject and presenting it in a way that captures the imagination in an unusual and creative way. The images he creates appear to float and subtly change as the viewer moves across the works – there are unseen depths, hidden messages and discrete patterns and details woven into each piece of work.

“Also showcased at the event will be sculptures by Duncan as well as collectable, signed editions of his new book ‘Making Waves’ for sale for people to get an insight into this incredible artist – he has a wonderful story to tell.

“Visitors will be able to meet Duncan himself and discuss the works with him to get a real understanding of his vision and thoughts behind the art he has created. It’s a fantastic opportunity and not one that comes around very often,” said Claire.

The event will be held from 6 – 8pm on Friday 13 November at Whitewall Galleries Nottingham, located at 1 Flying Horse Walk. To RSVP contact nottingham@whitewallgalleries.com.
