I’d been considering fillers for a while but had always put it off because of the taboo around any kind of cosmetic injectable or surgery. However, with more and more people now getting this procedure done, I decided to start my research.
When it comes to talking about cosmetic surgery, some people’s mouths remain firmly shut. I understand this; many people don’t want to be harshly judged. We live in a world that loves to have its say on how people look, there are literal pages of magazines dedicated to the public giving their opinions on celebrities outfits. People are utterly obsessed with cosmetic surgery whilst also being judgmental of it – just take a look at the comment section anytime any Kardashian posts something.
I personally prefer to be open and honest. Ask me what you want, I’m happy to answer. As someone who vehemently tries to lead body positive life and encourages those around her to do so also, I’ve always been supportive of anyone who has wanted to change anything, regardless of reasoning. Whether you’re trying HD brows, getting Botox, or even having acrylic nails, there’s no judgement from me.
During my research, I saw an advert with Cosmetic Courses who are one of the biggest medical cosmetic training companies in the UK and were looking for a model for lip fillers.
Cosmetic Courses only train medical professionals (Doctors, Dentists and Nurses) who are looking to branch out in the Aesthetics industry. In order for them to achieve this they require models to come along and have the treatments done under close supervision of the highly skilled and qualified aesthetic trainers at a discounted cost.
I reached out to them and they provided me with detailed advice on how to become a model. They offered me to book in for a free consultation with their expert trainer who could answer any more questions I had.
Cosmetic Courses opened their first Franchise held within Angels Twelve (a hair, beauty and skin clinic), in Nottingham and is led by Dr.Olha. The doctors here are not only excellent at what they do; they are also instructors providing UK-wide training for doctors developing their skills. The Doctors train in cosmetic medicine so you can be confident you are getting the very best service. Dr.Olha speaks regularly at national conferences and has been published in peer-reviewed journals, so I was definitely sold on receiving my procedure here.
When I arrived at Angels Twelve I wasn’t exactly worried, but I was about to undergo my first cosmetic procedure so I was a little nervous. However, I was greeted by the course coordinator Hayley and instantly felt relaxed in her warm presence as she sat me down and spoke about what it is they do at Angels Twelve.
My treatment was as a demo model at the end of a foundation training day. I was in a room full of medical professionals who were interested in learning and absorbing the skills and knowledge that lip filler specialist Dr.Olha shared.
When I sat down to discuss what it is I wanted from the filler, I explained that I wanted my lips to still look like my lips. Dr Olya agreed saying I had good natural definition so pumping 1ml into me straight away would not be the way to go.
We decided to only use 0.5ml of JUVÉDERM in order to plump up my lips a little without changing their shape.
Is it safe?
YES. But research, research, research. Make you sure a reputable professional is carrying out the procedure.
How long does it last?
The amount of lip filler needed in the length of time it lasts depends on the individual. Hyaluronic acid fillers typically last between four and six months. It is advised you increase the size gradually over time if you want more natural results.
How long does it take?
The actual procedure takes around 15 minutes in total. However, you will be sat for about 15-20 minutes with numbing cream on your lips whilst completing your paperwork.
Is it painful?
Not at all. Once your numbing cream has done its magic you will feel a pinch as the needle goes in but that’s about it. Your mouth may feel a little achy towards the end of the day but you’ve had needles in a very sensitive area, so this is to be expected. If done correctly, lip fillers don’t feel any different from your normal lips.
When do you see results?
Immediately. You will experience swelling over the next couple of days but after this your lips will settle back down.
However, everyone is different. If you’re someone who bruises easily, you may find slight bruising around the needle entry sight – just like if you were getting a flu vaccination.
What if it’s not for you?
If you don’t like your lip fillers, that’s fine; they aren’t permanent.
As Hyaluronic acid is a natural occurring substance, it will be broken down over a period of months anyway. However, if you want them gone immediately there is another injection you can get that dissolves the filler within five minutes.
What are the advantages of been a model on a Cosmetic Courses training day?
The biggest advantage is the experience. There are different reasons as to why people have cosmetic treatments. Cosmetic Courses’ hand picked trainers use their specialist experience to make sure each individual will have the right treatment for them. Cosmetic Courses only train medical professionals – doctors, nurses and dentists, so they are already highly knowledgeable in the medical field but are now breaking into the aesthetics industry.
Another advantage is that you’re saving money! You’re receiving a high quality treatment with best available products at a discounted price, in supervised clinic with an expert trainer always present.
If you have ever considered fillers and you’re still on the fence, or cost of the treatment has put you off then contact Cosmetic Courses. Remember you don’t have to go all out. Your doctor should help advise you on the amount needed to suit your facial features.
Getting lip fillers has been one of the best things I’ve done and will likely remain a regular part of my beauty regime (I plan on booking in for another 0.5ml in December). They’ve given me a boost of confidence, made putting on makeup that little bit more fun and importantly for me, I still look like myself.
I couldn’t recommend Cosmetic Courses and Angels Twelve in Nottingham more, and will continue to use them for any further procedures I decide to have.
