Situated in a gorgeous, high ceiling building on Victoria Street in the heart of Nottingham City Centre, award winning Delilah is a haven for foodies. Awarded the national title of ‘Deli of the Year 2012/2013’; voted Nottingham Restaurant Awards ‘Best Deli/Cafe’ four years running, the deli is also featured frequently in ‘best of lists’ in The Times.
Founded by Sangita Tryner In 2005 and run by foodies for foodies the dedicated team are passionate about the products they sell, their mission being to find unique products from around the world. Their philosophy is that only the finest, freshest ingredients will do, which they stock in abundance.
The traditional delicatessen has a tapas style food bar and cool laid back cafe-style seating for up to 70 food connoisseurs, giving them the opportunity to taste dishes inspired by some of the 1000’s of exciting ingredients available, ranging from speciality breads and cheeses to pasta and chocolate all stocked Mezzanine floor to full height height ceiling, to buy and take home from artisan producers around the world, many of whom Sangita discovered during her years in the food industry.
We visited the cafe just after Christmas, from our seats overlooking the deli we could appreciate the elegant Victorian interior, boasting lots of original features whilst tucking into their Antipasti Platter; Char grilled Artichoke, lovely sweet Peppers stuffed with Feta, Hummus, Global Olives topped with Feta, Romesco Sauce, Gorgonzola Torta, Balsamic onions, Spanish Cornichons, Fungi di Muschio, Sweet Garlic, Local Artisan Bread, Olive Oil and Balsamic (£14.95). A fabulous taster of some the products the deli stocked. The meal was packed with flavours and real treat for the taste buds. My only criticism would be that there could have been more bread between two people to dip.
If you like to share, they also offer a seasonal cheese board and a European Carcuterie Platter alongside tasty tapas menu.
