A Pride Disco Skate to celebrate and recognise the LGBTQ+ community during June’s Pride month is taking place at Nottingham’s National Ice Centre.
The National Ice Centre is partnering with British Ice Skating’s Pride campaign to showcase commitment to inclusivity on the ice rink and within the sport alongside ice arenas across the UK.
On Saturday 29 June, everyone is invited to lace up their boots and skate together under the rainbow disco lights as their favourite anthems are played. The Pride Disco Skate takes place 2.30pm-4.30pm and is set to be a vibrant celebration of inclusivity and the perfect warm up for Notts Pride.
The Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service LGBT+ Proud Friends Network will also be in attendance to offer support and engage with the community.
Robyn Pedley, National Ice Centre, said: “Our ice skating sessions are open to everyone all year round, so to celebrate Pride month, we’re proud to be holding a Pride disco session for all members of the ice skating community to celebrate acceptance and inclusion with us.”
Nottinghamshire Pride 2024 celebrates LGBTQ+ talent across the city and county and begins with a visibility march through the city centre on Saturday 27 July of more than 7,000 LGBTQ+ people and allies, followed by an afternoon market with events stage and educational stalls.
In support of Nottinghamshire Pride, everyone is invited to join a fun-filled day of skating on 27 July. The public skating sessions during Nottingham Pride are 10.30am – 12.30pm, 2.30pm – 4.30pm and 7pm – 9pm.
The ice centre’s neighbours Saltbox will be celebrating all afternoon as well with a Pride Party Silent Disco, taking place 1pm – 5pm. It’s free entry and there’ll be 2-4-1 cocktails too.
The skating parties are very popular so advance booking is advised to avoid disappointment. For more information and to book, go to www.national-ice-centre.com/whats-on/pre-pride-disco
