The sun was shining (mostly!) for this years Nottinghamshire County Show when I visited the prestigious event last Saturday.
Whilst I didn’t see Froojamaflip, the 8ft stilted character (how did I miss him??) or his friend Fred who were there to create an interactive experience about the importance of healthy living and eco-friendly gardening with families and children, I’ve got to admit, I did spend most of my time in the food area.
The importance of a healthy diet was demonstrated by home economist Teresa Bovey who showed how busy people can make delicious, healthy meals with minimum effort.
There was also a host of demonstrations from producers and industry experts in the food experience area, including another old friend, the lovely Linda Hewett who I have worked with at previous food festivals. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with her next month to learn about bread making and the stress relief from making the dough ( I hope she’s got plenty!), Linda was running the children’s area and teaching children how to make vegetable soup, which I tried and was delicious. Another friend, local healthy food warrior Eva Humphreys was also giving advice.
Of course, I couldn’t go away empty-handed. More than 100 local producers, traders, and food specialists attended the show. I eame away with some artisan chocolate, rhubarb liquor to put in my prosecco and a cake almost the size of my head to name a few bits(I’m such a girl!)
So, did you go to this years show? I’d love to hear what your favourite bits were.
