Food: A taste of Wimbledon served up at Domestic & General, Talbot Street, Nottingham

WIMBLEDON fever swept Notts as the traditional taste of Wimbledon was brought indoors to around 850 employees at Domestic & General who enjoyed strawberries and cream – and watched live tennis on TV screens across its Nottingham office.

As temperatures soared, Wimbledon’s famous go-to sweet treat was enjoyed by teams of colleagues at the international warranty specialists based in Talbot Street.

More than 2,000 punnets of strawberries were consumed across the four Domestic & General sites in one day – with 700 portions of strawberries and cream handed out at the Nottingham office.

This adds to approximately a whopping 120,000 punnets of strawberries and 7,000 litres of fresh cream served during the Wimbledon fortnight at the All England Club.

Tracy Gill, HR manager, said: “Wimbledon is a much-loved part of our British heritage and with all eyes on Andy Murray and Serena Williams, we wanted to give our employees a taste of the action and our own nod to the tournament.

“Snacking on strawberries and cream has long been associated with the tennis and by tuning into the matches from the office, employees have been able to still feel part of the Wimbledon atmosphere.”

The company has three further UK offices, in Brighton, Bedworth with its headquarters in, you’ve guessed it – Wimbledon.
