The Calcutta Club, located on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham, hosted an event attended by over 100 people to celebrate the popular restaurant’s second birthday.
The event also celebrated Calcutta Club’s recent success as Best Newcomer in the UK in the latest British Curry Awards.
Guests were treated to a range of canapés specially created for the event and served by the restaurant’s chefs. There was also entertainment from the Folk Foundasian with Hiteh on sitar and Trushar on the tabla.
Calcutta Club was set up by brothers John and Barry Dhaliwal, with John running front of house whilst Barry, who has 35 years experience in the industry and who was named as Scotland’s best chef in 1985, running the kitchen as executive chef.
The restaurant’s name and theme derives from the world’s oldest polo club in Calcutta. It is proving to be a highly popular dining destination in the city.
John and Barry said: “It was wonderful that so many of our guests who have supported us over the last two years, came to help us celebrate as well as people who were discovering the restaurant for the first time.”
