TO CELEBRATE its first Christmas in Nottingham city centre, George’s Fish and Chip Kitchen has launched a taste-bud tingling festive menu – and there isn’t a dull turkey roast in sight.

The restaurant in Queen Street opened earlier this year and instantly saw queues forming outside its doors every lunchtime as foodies in Nottingham sought out the best fish offering in the city, from mushy pea fritters to surf and turf cooked in George’s Inka grill, and prawns in blankets to fish pakoras.

To treat its loyal customers, office parties and groups of friends celebrating this Christmas, the restaurant has launched a festive menu with a difference, featuring starters such as a marinated goose egg and ‘dippy fish fingers’, mains such as black sesame monkfish and a turkey dinner pie, and desserts to appeal to all tastes from an apple and caramac crumble to a chocolate and three milk pudding.

Managing director at George’s Andrew Constantinou said the whole team, from the head chef to the waiters and waitresses, were very excited about the festive menu.

He said: “At George’s we are all about freshness – using only freshly sourced produce to create dishes that always have a quirky twist. So we just couldn’t offer a dull and tried and tested option like a turkey roast on our Christmas menu – we were very keen to offer dishes in line with our ethos and the personality of the brand.

“We have created a menu which will appeal to all tastes in the run up to Christmas, from our Angus feather blade steak cooked in red wine, orange and star anise to our halloumi tortilla wrap.

“We’ve given a festive twist to each and every dish – and having sampled them myself, I can promise our customers that they are in for a real festive treat.”

The Christmas menu at George’s Fish and Chip Kitchen launches on November 24, with a set price of £27.95 per person for three courses.

Andrew added: “We are now taking bookings for Christmas parties, festive family dinners, groups of friends celebrating the holidays and of course our loyal customers who visit George’s regularly – and tables are being snapped up quickly.

“We would recommend people book their tables sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment, as we are expecting to be very busy every day in the run up to Christmas.”
