ALE specialists from some of the county’s most well known and loved breweries will come together for the first time this month at Nottingham’s No/6 Bar for a special evening of beer tasting and food pairing.
Owners and brewers from Castle Rock, Magpie and Shipstone’s breweries will give talks about how each craft beer was made, the heritage and the future of local brewing in Nottingham at the event which will take place on Thursday, 19 November from 7pm.
The ale experts will also give tips about which tipples go with various local cheeses and meats as guests are offered the chance to sample each combination.
Bar manager at the No/6 Adam Stephenson said: “I believe this event is the first of its kind in Nottingham where three major breweries have joined forces to talk about all things ale. It’s sure to be a cracking night of ale sampling and an enlightening evening with the popular food pairing on offer too.
“There is a great love for all things real ale in this county, so it’s fantastic that we are able to invite Castle Rock, Magpie and Shipstone’s to showcase some of the very best ales they produce here in Nottingham.”
The evening is just one of an array of events taking place at the newly refurbished No/6 bar this winter as part of its jam-packed schedule of live music, tasting sessions, presentations and cocktail masterclasses.
The No/6 Bar is one of Nottingham’s best kept secrets, hidden on St James Street in the city centre, within the St James hotel. It recently relaunched with a new drinks menu and an exciting events calendar at a VIP launch party held last month.
Hotel manager Richard Johal said: “Since the relaunch we have put a huge emphasis on specialised events so not only our hotel guests can be entertained, but also the Nottingham public.
“We are very excited to welcome these well-known and expert breweries to the No/6 Bar and I’m particularly interested to hear what they say about how to pair ales with certain foods. With live music held at the No/6 every Friday until Christmas, as well as our renowned Christmas and New Year events, it’s certainly an exciting and busy time for everyone here at the St James hotel.”
The bar has also just launched its Six at 6 club where customers can receive after work discounts from 6pm Monday to Thursday – perfect for professionals based in the city centre and local residents.
The offers include two-for-one on all cocktails and a bottle of house wine for £8.
Guests will be able to enjoy their after work drinks in the sumptuously refurbished bar, which will soon have its own outdoor seating area on St James Street.
Tickets for the ale and food pairing evening are priced at £15 per person and must be booked in advance. To book, call 0115 9411114 or e-mail info@number-six.co.uk
