ALMOST £3,000 was raised by the R3 East Midlands Ladies Committee’s hugely successful lunch event for Treetops Hospice – which provides nursing care and emotional support for families in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Ex Arsenal striker, John Hartson, spoke at the event – which is held every year by the Association of Business Recovery Professionals (R3) East Midlands Ladies Committee – and took place this year at Trent Bridge on 4 March.

Treetops Hospice was chosen as the beneficiary by the R3 East Midlands Ladies Committee, which includes professionals from across the city – namely chair Helen Robinson from BDO LLP, Rachel McCahill from Nelsons Solicitors, Chloe Poskitt from Browne Jacobson, Su Garner from Gateley Plc, Megan Wallis from Bates Weston, and Ruth Thurland from Geldards.

A spokesperson for the committee said: “The lunch provides an opportunity for the business community to get together, network and form strong relationships as well as raise money for charity. We’ve been incredibly impressed by the generosity of our guests and we’re delighted to be able to support the vital work being done by the hospice across the East Midlands.”

Treetops hospice provides adults with life-limiting illnesses with emotional, physical and social care. The hospice – located between Nottingham and Derby – offers a range of services, from creative activity sessions and art therapy to counselling services for those coping with bereavement. Those whose quality of life may have diminished are also given peace of mind with the ‘hospice at home’ service whereby a team of qualified nurses can give carers a break and care for adults at home.

“The lunch was originally named the ‘Excuse Me Lunch’ as, historically, attendees were required to move one space round their table after each course which meant that they got the opportunity to speak to everyone at the event.

“We look forward to continuing to support local charities with the raffles held at our lunches and dinners held throughout the year,” added the spokesperson.

R3 works to raise awareness amongst individuals and businesses on the key benefits in obtaining financial advice. The organisation provides information and signposting to enable the public to locate professionals best placed to advise and work with underperforming and financially distressed businesses and individuals. The lunch on 4 March raised £2,600 for the charity.
