We all know Nottingham is great for the huge variety of  food and drink options on offer, with new and exciting venues opening  all the time.

To celebrate our tasty City, the Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID), has created Taste Nottingham, an it’s in Nottingham initiative which kicks off today.

During the four da extravaganza there are some great offers and events taking place, including Nottingham’s first ever Moving Feast.  Four different themed meals which will take diners across the city centre to different venues, which includes some of Nottingham’s newest restaurants alongside some old, but still great favourites, for the ultimate in dining experiences.

NottinghamLIVE were invited along to sample some of the dishes on offer during  the delicious week ahead from a selection of the venues asking part.

Our evening kicked off in the beautiful setting of The Pitcher and Piano. Nottingham’s finest Food writers and bloggers tucked in an amazing selection of starters at the convert church. Chicken and Chorizo skewers,  sweet potato falafel and calamari were amongst the selection of dishes, a mouth-watering sample of what’s available to hungry diners.

Moving on, we stop in at Purecraft Bar and Kitchen, a relatively new addition to the Nottingham food and drink scene which opened in the former HSBC bank building on St. Peters Gate. The craft beer specialists also take pride in their food, which is overseen by director Andreas Antona, a Michelin-star chef. We were treated here to our main course of belly pork with potato purée,black pudding and apple with jus.

Our dessert is courtesy of another relatively new player in Nottingham, Revolution De Cuba  on Market Street. The vibrant Cuban style venue offers a taste of heyday Havana. Delicious churros with chocolate and caramel dipping sauces were washed down with one of the venues signature cocktails.

Over the next four days,  three choices of feast are offer.  The first is the Vegetarian Feast taking place today.  Starting as we did in the Pitcher and Piano for a starter, the trail then moves on to the Nottingham Posts award-winning restaurant of the year, Harts for a Main Course before finishing at the historic Malt Cross for dessert.

The Indulgent Feast also takes place today. Diners will enjoy a three course dinner of  wings, ribs, pizza and mammoth desserts.  Venues include Missoula, Revolution De Cuba  and The Lost City Golf where diners can also enjoy Tiki cocktails and a rang of puddings from Homemade.

Wednesday will see a two course Lunchtime Feast take place at some of Nottingham’s great independents. The Main Course will be at George’s Great British Kitchen followed by dessert at Homemade, then a coffee master class at 200 Degrees.

The final spectacular feast in the series is the Foodie Feast on Wednesday. The starter is at Purecraft Bar and Kitchen, followed by a main course at Sinatra’s and a dessert at Copper.

There are also some great offers, discounts and special menus from many of  Nottingham’s food and drink businesses. From burgers and hotdogs to free milkshakes, there’s something for all occasions, taste buds and budgets.

A 70 page full colour food and drink guide has been produced, with all the details of the events and offers as well as a comprehensive directory of all the places in Nottingham city centre where people can eat and drink. These have been distributed through the Nottingham Post and delivers to homes across the region as well as to businesses in the city centre.
