Regular readers would have caught our features on the Great Food and Drink Festival at Nottingham Castle over the May bank holiday (23-25). Following the Festivals success, which saw over ten thousand visitors to the castle grounds, a second instalment will be taking place later this year.
The venue for the next Festival will be the picturesque and historical grounds of Newstead Abbey which will host the event over the August bank holiday, 29-31 August 2015. A star-studded line-up has already confirmed with demos from Dean Edwards, resident chef on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, Sean Wilson, former Coronation Street actor turned cheese maker and Chetna Makan, one of The Great British Bake Off finalists of 2014 all coming along to the show as well as local favourites, award-winning butcher Johnny Pusztai and another Great British Bake-Off star, Jordan Cox, who will be on hand to give a master class on cooking and baking. All the chefs will be giving you an insight of their skills over the weekend and teaching you tips and tricks that they have learned over their years in the business.
With over a hundred diverse stalls set to be at Newstead Abbey, there should be something to suit everyone’s taste. There will be stalls from Memsaab, Hartland Pies, I Love Ostrich and a lot more including a range of artisan crafts such as Butterfly Lane and My Pink Elephant, to name a few. There will be a multitude of rides, soft play, Punch and Judy shows and a whole lot more to keep the younger generation entertained over the weekend too.
