It was beauty and the bake last Friday as medi spa, Serenity Retreat in Carlton ,took part in the world’s biggest coffee morning in aid of Macmillan cancer support.
Staff at the Salon, more used to pampering clients with their range of nail, beauty, tanning and aesthetic treatments, ran their own bake-off style competition to find out which of the team could whip up a sponge cake as beautiful as their clients.
One in three of us will face cancer, and the funds raised at the event and others like it will go towards making sure no one has to face it alone.
Visitors to the Salon were invited to judge the staffs cakes based on both taste and presentation. Congratulations to the overall winner, Schannelle whose delicious Victoria sponge cake took top place.
2nd place went to the chocolate cake baked by Jennie
3rd place was the honey cake baked by Agnese
Finally in 4th place was the Lemon drizzle cake by Miriam
Salon owner, Schannelle Ricketts, added ‘Macmillan play a significant part in many people’s lives. It was a great way for us to show our support and to raise money for a cause that is close to our hearts.’
