Thursday 9th July saw a fresh start for The Sir John Borlase following its take over from Hucknall based Lincoln Green Brewery.
The pub, at the top of Ilkeston Road on Canning Circus first opened in 1814, and is set to be the second successful venture for Lincoln Green, following in the footsteps of the award-winning Robin Hood and Little John which they opened in Arnold last August.
The relaunch by Lincoln Green under Project William, an Everards-run scheme, kicked off with a beer festival showcasing some of the finest traditional and seasonal beers from the brewery, along with other guest ales to draw in the customers. There were 12 real ales on the bar joined by a further 10 in the beer garden. The scheme sees it join forces with smaller brewers to rejuvenate pubs whilst creating local employment opportunities.
A new food menu, led by manager Adam Godfrey was the focus of the event, with the emphasis being on good old-fashioned, traditional pub grub catering for lunch times, evening grazing and the essential Sunday roast. Baked goods are courtesy of Hucknall-based artisan baker Philip Roadley who runs his own business Spelt and Rye supplying home-made breads, free from additives.
Visitors to the launch were treated to samples from the menu which included the marvellous
triple cooked chips pictured below.

Dogs and children are welcome at the pub and are also able to make full use of the glorious beer garden, recently voted one of the best in Nottingham.
