Happy Mondays set for Splendour Headline Slot

‘Madchester’ legends HAPPY MONDAYS have been announced as one of the headline acts for this summers Splendour Festival.

The band have reformed their original line up, including dancer Bez – who will take a break from his campaign to become a Member of Parliament – for a series of shows to commemorate the 25th anniversary of their hit album ‘Bummed’. A band famed for their party atmosphere these guys are sure to have Wollaton rocking on July 19th.

While Happy Mondays are veterans of the music scene fellow headline acts TOM ODELL is a relative new kid on the block with his appearance at this years festival set to be his biggest headline show to date. The youngster, who has supported last years headliner Jake Bugg in the past, has become one of the biggest names in music topping the charts with his debut album ‘Long Way Down’.

Meanwhile also announced for this year are another veteran act in THE BOOMTOWN RATS, who will be appearing with their full original line up including Bob Geldof. They will headline the Confetti Stage, which will also include an appearance from REVEREND AND THE MAKERS, who recently put on a brilliant show at Rock City.

With many more names still to be announced this is already shaping up to be a cracking festival and after last years Nottingham-tastic event we are looking forward to seeing which hometown acts make it on to this years line up. As ever the Nusic team will be holding their Future Sound of Nottingham competition meaning a Nottingham act will once again get the honour of kicking things off on the main stage. Head over to nusic.org.uk for more on that.
