Kings of Leon, Nottingham Motorpoint Arena: 8 July 2024
Grammy winning rock & roll band Kings of Leon are coming to Nottingham Motorpoint Arena this July on their 2024 ‘Can We Please Have Fun’ World Tour.
The Nottingham show by the multi-award winning, multi-platinum selling band on 8 July is one of a few select dates where they will be joined by special guests The Vaccines. The indie rockers join the tour off the back of their 6th album of blistering pop rock, and bringing a whole legion of fans old and new.
Following the announcement of a brand new Kings of Leon album and a headline performance at BST Hyde Park this summer, the band revealed details of their 2024 Can We Please Have Fun World Tour. Best known for their platinum-selling records including Sex On Fire and Use Somebody, excitement is building for the shows as the Nashville band has not played in the UK since 2021.
Since their debut in 2003, Kings of Leon have released eight albums and sold more than 20 million albums and nearly 40 million singles worldwide. The band has won three Grammy Awards, three NME Awards, two BRIT Awards, and one Juno Award and toured all over the world, playing at stadiums and arenas and headlining major festivals including Glastonbury, Coachella, Lollapalooza and Reading & Leeds on three separate occasions
‘Can We Please Have Fun’, as its title suggests is a document of one of this era’s great rock & roll bands cutting loose, trying new things, and having some fun. Recorded at Dark Horse studio and produced with new collaborator Kid Harpoon, the album sees the band hark back to their gritty origins, while simultaneously finding new gears. It’s the sound of a band unified in vision and purpose, freed from any expectations and the album the band says they’ve always wanted to make.
“It was the most enjoyable record I’ve ever been a part of,” Caleb (guitar/vocals) says. “It’s like we allowed ourselves to be musically vulnerable,” Nathan (drums) adds. “I love it when a rock band is not embarrassed to admit that every song doesn’t have to be on 11.”
The group is gearing up for a monumental year, and they’re ready to take the world by storm. “When you have a band, there’s a bond like no other, and when you have family, you have a bond like no other,” Caleb says. “We have both of those things. I thought, if we put all our energy toward something, who is gonna stop us? Who can stop us except us?”
The tour announcement follows news of their brand new, Kid Harpoon (Harry Styles, Florence + the Machine) produced album ‘Can We Please Have Fun’, out 10 May via Polydor Records. The album’s hard-charging lead single “Mustang” is available now, accompanied by a high-flying music video that sets the pace for the rest of the album.
