The Future Sound of Nottingham is returning for 2024. FSN gives Nottingham and Nottinghamshire musicians the opportunity to play the iconic main stage of Rock City.
Running for over ten years, the Future Sound of Nottingham is organised by local music organisation Nusic who are dedicated to helping talented Notts musicians at the start of their career. Sadly they had to say goodbye Summer 2022, but are delighted to bring back this incredible opportunity with the support of Rock City, DHP Family and Dot To Dot Festival.
Previous FSN champs have opened the main stage at Nottingham Splendour Festival, however, with Splendour taking a break this year, and after weeks of deliberating and idea pondering, Nusic and DHP Family have found a way to deliver FSN and provide an exciting new opportunity for Nottingham musicians – opening the Rock City main stage at Dot To Dot Festival! Essentially swapping Nottingham’s biggest festival, for Nottingham’s coolest festival.
This year, opening 11am Monday 25th March, any live musician from or living within the Greater Nottingham Urban Area, and making original music (covers do not count), can enter.
Six finalists will get the chance to have their music listened to by five music industry professionals, who will not only decide the champ, but also give precise, written up positive and constructive feedback. We’re talking big music industry humans who work on some of the biggest brands in the UK. Full list revealed soon on Nusic’s Instagram.
A spokesperson for DHP said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer this opportunity for Nottingham’s music scene. Dot To Dot is one of the perfect festivals for a new artist to perform in front of an audience of music lovers who are looking to discover something new, we can’t wait to hear the entrants and find out who’ll be joining us!”
FSN’s long and storied 10 year history has included some of Nottingham’s most exciting artists. Previous FSN Finalists include ALT BLK ERA (who have gone on to sell out The Bodega and have multiple BBC Radio 1 plays) Emily Makis (who co-wrote Chase & Status’ ‘Disconnect’ and won DJ Mag’s ‘Best Vocalist’), and Bru-C’s previous band (who has had a UK Top 20 single + international acclaim).
To enter, email hello@nusic.org.uk with ONE (!) song (mp3 or wav) on a file sharing link (Dropbox / Drive etc), ORone streaming link (Spotify / Soundcloud etc). Plus confirmation of your Nottinghamness (where you are from or living in NG) and confirmation that you are available on Sunday 26th May. You must also confirm you are available to perform live (definition: at least one live vocal and one live instrument).
All successfully received entries will be listed here – www.nusic.org.uk/fsn
Entries close 11:59pm Monday 1st April. Finalists will be revealed on Monday 8th April.
All details and news on Finalists will be revealed via Nusic’s Instagram – @FeelTheNusic (www.instagram.com/feelthenusic) and via their website www.nusic.org.uk/fsn.
