Looking Ahead: Gigs of the week – 7-13 November 2013

It’s starting to get chilly, and alarmingly the Christmas decorations are going up… Which means its getting to the time of year where we’re being pulled every which way to spend as much money as possible, whilst having to listen to the worst Christmas music ever. If this gets you down, like it does me, get to some gigs, where Nottingham artists are keeping it real, and bringing us talent that we’re proud of. Here is the selection for this week!

Thursday 9th November

Ambiance is looking pretty sweet this week as it returns from 3 weeks off, featuring 94 GUNSHIPS, G, JACK RAY and REBECCA VAUGHAN.

Also on this week though is Under the Tree at The Bodega, which also has an excellent line up ft. THE SINISTER MINISTER, STEPHANIE CARGILL, JAMIE BEAU, JAMES GOOCH and CHESHIRE AND THE CAT.

I couldn’t decide which one to feature, so the details for both events can be found below:

Also on Thursday: Paper Cape/Summer Cities and The Invaders @ The Old Angel – £3; Dirty Revolution, Nadia Latoya, Addictive Philosophy & Cadence Noir @ The Maze – £6 adv; Satnams Tash, The Giles Rivers Company, Zebra Crossing & Nick Aslam @ The Golden Fleece.

Friday 8th November

Farmyard Presents: Sea Monsters Eyes, Maths and the Moon, The Cream Tangerines – Jamcafe – 9pm – Free

Harmonious but a bit gritty, melodic, sometimes unpredictable, often psychedelic. With the four-part harmonies giving a retro sound, interspersed with Graham Coxon/Jonny Greenwood-esque guitar and comparisons being made with The Doors, The Bees and Sparks they really are an interesting and quite excellent band.

Also supporting them are MATHS AND THE MOON and THE CREAM TANGERINES.

The outdoor acoustic stage presents a line-up of some of the city’s finest acts unplugged including headliners CAPTAIN DANGEROUS.
