Many lucky folk might have found a ticket for the 2016 Splendour festival tucked into their Christmas stocking this year.
Recognised as the city’s biggest summer day out, the annual summer bonanza of music, comedy, food and drink in the beautiful setting of Wollaton Park , organisers released the tickets earlier in anticipation of a demand for tickets purchased as Christmas gifts.
Organisers DHP Family and Nottingham City Council have confirmed Splendour will take place on Saturday 23 July 2016 and work is well underway on securing next year’s acts and attractions.
Owner and festival booker George Akins, DHP Family, said: “What better way to celebrate Christmas than giving them a reminder of summer with the gift of a fantastic day out at Splendour! The festival has become one of the most hotly anticipated dates in the calendar for Nottingham, so anyone getting a ticket now will be on to a winner.”
The festival sold out last year with 20,000 turning out to see storming sets from headliners The Specials, James, Bananarama and Lawson with loads of fun and games happening away from the stages to keep all ages entertained.
2016 is set to be another remarkable year for Splendour, with previous years featuring incredible acts such as Paolo Nutini, Madness, Scissor Sisters, Blondie, Dizzee Rascal, Pet Shop Boys, Tom Odell, Jake Bugg, Specials, James and many more.
Children under 11 will once again be admitted free, and City Card discounts are also in place for Nottingham residents. A standard ticket is £45, coming down to £35 when the City Card discount is applied. Additional discounts for young people aged 11-17 apply with City Card holder tickets priced at £20 while tickets for young people with a County Card are £35.
