A self reflective jab at the bands own efforts to write a pop song, “Popular Music” blends tongue in cheek lyrics with the infectious punk energy that SHEAFS are becoming notorious for in clubs throughout the UK and Europe.
This is the first release from a much anticipated debut EP that encapsulates the bands journey so far. After teaming up with award winning producer and frontman of Spring King Tarek Musa, there’s a real bite and power to “Popular Music” that is sure to ignite a frenzy among fans along the live circuits.
Of the track, front man Lawrence says: “The song was derived from scrambling’s of lyrics that were never actually meant to make a song but actually fitted the bands latest instrumental. The song was written with a sarcastic undertone to try and make an obvious attempt to the public of creating our own pop song. However, the simple lyrics partnered with the thrashing relentless guitar and drums ironically produced somewhat more of a punk song.”
Previous releases have received backing from BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Chris Hawkins & Tom Robinson), Radio X (Gordon Smart), BBC Introducing (Dean Jackson & Christian Carlisle) & Virgin Radio (Edith Bowman)
SHEAFS have toured Europe with American rockers Greta Van Fleet playing across Germany, Holland & also a big show at London’s Electric Ballroom. They have further impressive support slots under the belts including Ocean Colour Scene, The Coral, The Amazons + Idles just to name a few. In addition to an array of supports, SHEAFS have played numerous headline tours selling out prestigious venues such as O2 Academy Sheffield 2 and Rock City Basement in Nottingham.
SHEAFS are: Lawrence Feenstra (vocals), Chris Goodacre (guitar + backing vox), Charles Mellor (guitar), Callum Wright (bass + backing vox), Charlie Eastap (drums)
