Comic’s are big deals now, thanks in no small part to the huge success of films like Dark Knight and Avenger’s Assemble, and sit coms such as The Big Bang Theory, comic books are now bigger business than ever, you only have to look at the recent San Diego Comic Con event to see why. Now a taste of what a comic convention offers is coming to Nottingham with the launch of NerdFest.
Taking place at the Britannia Hotel on October 5, NerdFest will be the first comic convention of its type to take place in Nottingham and will focus on guest artists with around 50 artist tables at the event on the day – plus sponsor tables.
A host of fantastic guest artists have already been lined up for this year’s inaugural event, including Dylan Teague, who has worked with DC and Marvel UK, Gary Erskine, Lee Sullivan, John McCrea and freelance artist Steve Beckett.
There will also be a guest caricaturist in Paul Holmes who will be doing two 1 hour sets of free caricatures for visitors.
As well as the special guest artists there will be a huge number of visiting artists on the day who will be showing of a variety of different styles and designs.
As if that wasn’t enough there will be live music from great local bands with two acts PREFONTAINE and THREE THIRDS BELOW already announced.
There is lots more still to be announced for this exciting event, so keep your eyes out for more, but already this is looking like being a great event, and at just £7 for a standard ticket – under 12’s go free – it looks like being a bargain as well.
