BATTLE ZOMBIES, ANDROIDS AND DRONES AT INTU VICTORIA CENTRE
A new permanent entertainment experience is set to open at Nottingham’s intu Victoria Centre, that will see friends and families taking on the ‘Zombie Apocalypse’.
A first for the UK, meetspace VR is bringing Zero Latency, the global leader in free-roam, multiplayer virtual reality gaming to intu Victoria Centre in October. This exciting new experience gives teams of up to eight the chance to step into a virtual reality and take on one of the epic challenges – including battling zombies, androids and drones.
Spanning a 6,000sq ft space on the upper mall of the centre, Zero Latency uses the latest wearable gaming technology to enable players to explore the virtual world, using their bodies as controllers.
Speaking ahead of the opening on 5 October, Nigel Wheatley, general manager of intu Victoria Centre, said:
“We are delighted to welcome meetspaceVR to the centre with such an exciting and different leisure experience. We trailed VR as part of our winter wonderland activity two years ago and we saw just how much our customers loved it.
“We know that people want compelling experiences to share with friends and family and introducing an international brand like this to a shopping centre environment is an important part of that smile-generating formula. It’s going to be lots of fun!”
Founded in 2014 in Australia, Zero Latency is the pioneer in warehouse scale, free-roam, multiplayer virtual reality entertainment. It now operates from 19 venues in 10 countries across four continents, with over 500,000 games played to date.
John Lilley, CEO at meetspaceVR, said:
“We can’t wait to bring this amazing, next generation of social VR technology to the UK. VR technology and e-sports will evolve quickly and we are committed to bring the best in class experiences together under one roof. intu Victoria Centre is the perfect location for our first UK opening because of its excellent location and wide appeal as a go-to destination for millions of people every year.”
