Nottingham Comedy Festival 2013: Day 5 Preview – 24 September 2013

We have reached Day Five in this years Nottingham Comedy Festival and things are showing no signs of slowing down with a huge selection of shows to enjoy on this fine Tuesday night.

The Long Intros: Live and in 3D – The Salutation

Performing songs from their upcoming record The Long Intros –  Make an Album the Nottingham duo take a journey through the worries and hardships of growing up – or choosing not to. With topics such as parents, erectile dysfunction and experimental friendships there will be plenty for all to relate to in this show.

The show starts at 7pm and is just £2.

Pub Poetry – The Canalhouse

Pub Poetry is like an Open Mic night only for spoken word, so why not bring along your short stories, poems or even songs – whatever you choose as long as it involves words and is, hopefully, funny.

It starts at 8 and is free entry so just turn up and enjoy the fun – as well as a few drinks.

Fowl Humour – Golden Fleece

Andy Fowler – www.fowlhumour.co.uk – presents a night of hilarious stand up at the Golden Fleece with performances from Patrick Draper, Curtis Young and John Andrews, along with Andy himself, all for just £3.

Andrew Ryan – The Navigation

Upcoming comic Andrew Ryan presents his new show The Life of Ryan in which he explores the differences between himself and his parents, who by the time they’d reached the age Andrew is now, 31, were married with three children. Andrew, however, is not married, nor does he have any children, covering women, drink, aging, washing machines and more this promises to be a show for all.

Tickets for the show are £5 and doors are at 7.30pm (show starts at 8)

Upstairs Downton: The Improvised Episode – The Salutation

Created entirely from audience suggestions, and inspired by the BBC mega-hit Downton Abbey and it’s lesser copycat BBC shows – Upstairs Downton: The Improvised Episode recovers a lost outing of everybody’s favourite costume drama.

Starting at 8.30pm tickets for this show are just £3.

Matt Reed: Mat’ll Do Nicely – Lord Roberts

After 12 years on the circuit Sunderland born comic Matt Reed has played clubs across the UK and beyond, you can catch him telling jokes and chatting to the crowd at the Lord Roberts from 8pm for just £5.

Maxine Jones: Embarrassing Mother – Lord Robets

Maxine Jones left London for Dublin in 1990, married an Irishman, became Ireland’s first divorcee, reared three rowdy sons and discovered how English she was. Her sons are horrified that she’s turned to stand-up. She is forced to lie. They think she’s in Lidl.

Starts 9.30pm, tickets £3.

A brand new show from Radio 1 host Tom Deacon. As seen on The Rob Brydon Show and Dave’s One Night Stand, Tom is a slick, upbeat, confident and loveable performer. After having performed 3 solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival to critical acclaim, he brings brand new material to Nottingham Comedy Festival for your pleasure!

£5 from 9.30pm.
