DIRECTOR Alison Belfied from Nottingham based Cleggs Solicitors is preparing to power walk for around six hours covering a distance of 26.2 miles for a breast cancer charity.
Taking part in the Edinburgh Moonwalk event on the 10 June, Alison is hoping to raise as much awareness around the disease as possible. The money raised will go to Walk the Walk – a grant making charity which grants funds to other breast cancer charities and organisations so that they can reach their particular goals.
The charity works to improve the lives of those suffering from breast cancer, support the provision of free treatment and also support research into the disease.
Alison said: “Absolutely everyone you speak to has at some point in their life been affected either directly or indirectly by breast cancer. For me it was my funny and beautiful Auntie Theresa who I’ll never forget. But we can all add a name and some are luckier than others thanks to the new treatments available.
“With this in mind I decided I wanted to take part in this challenge to support this worthwhile cause. On 10 June, we will power walk this marathon in the same time as some people run one – and the hours spent and miles covered in practice to get ready for it are vast.
“It is going to be challenging but I am looking forward to raising money for this amazing cause.”
