A local children’s charity based at Nottingham City Hospital has been selected to benefit from the penny-wishes donated into the Emett Clock’s pond. PASIC (formerly Parents Association for Seriously Ill Children) provides support for Nottingham families dealing with childhood cancer and has been announced as the Emett Clock’s charity of the year, as the finale of this week’s Emett Clock Week celebrations (11-17 June).
PASIC aims to give children and families the means to build support networks, reduce isolation and offer financial assistance, helping to make a positive difference to families whose children’s lives have been impacted by cancer.
The exciting announcement follows a public vote on intu Victoria Centre’s Facebook page. In total, an amazing 2886 people voted for PASIC to become the new Emett Clock charity of the year, ahead of the first anniversary of the landmark’s return to the centre on 17 June.
Nigel Wheatley, general manager at intu Victoria Centre, said: “We are delighted to welcome PASIC as our new Emett Clock charity, especially during our very first Emett Clock Week! All of the charities shortlisted by our team are incredible, so we are thankful to the local people who voted and helped us make a really tough decision.
Louise Whittle, operations and fundraising manager at PASIC said: “Being voted Emett Clock charity partner means a huge amount to PASIC. The young people we support come from the local area so this is the perfect way for us to connect with people in Nottingham.
“We were bowled over the amazing support of the public who voted for us. We aim to extend our services to help even more families of children with cancer over the course of the next year thanks to intu Victoria Centre’s generous shoppers.”
