Radford Care Group has received £5,250 in donations from Nottingham-based CPMG architects following a 27 mile sponsored walk in the Peak District.
Founded in 1968, the charity offers daytime facilities and activities for frail elderly and dementia sufferers in Nottingham including friendship groups, hot lunches and organised activities such as exercise, entertainment, arts and crafts and day trips.
CPMG is fundraising for Radford Care Group in addition to supporting the charity with design work for a new purpose built care centre on Prospect Street, Radford.
Paul Bodill, project director at CPMG, organised the White Peak Challenge sponsored walk around Bakewell and was impressed by the enthusiasm shown by the 32 CPMG team, fellow consultants, friends and Radford Care Group staff who participated.
He said: “It was a fantastic day. Everyone really got stuck in, even people who had never undertaken such a long walk before – some turning up in brand new walking boots. But almost everyone crossed the finish line successfully, proving that anyone can get involved in fundraising activities.
“To have raised above and beyond our target is fantastic; the donations have come in thick and fast and the generosity has been outstanding.
“The Radford Care group is a wonderful organisation doing incredibly valuable work in the local community. The existing building has provided an excellent venue for the older generation for more than 47 years, but now the charity is in need of somewhere new to continue its invaluable work in the area and I am certain this cash boost will help.”
Jill Davies, CEO of Radford Care Group, said: “We’re really grateful to CPMG for organising such an enjoyable event. The money will help to fund the new centre which will offer training facilities, as well as ongoing support to an aging population.
“Our work means that people who might find it difficult to socialise, or keep active, have somewhere to come and the new centre will be open seven days a week so we can support more people in Nottingham.
“The new centre will include a bespoke training centre for local people who are considering a future in care, so we’re thrilled to be one step closer to our new centre, thanks to the money raised by everyone.”
The new centre will revolutionise the charity’s current offering but the Care Group will require a temporary location to hold its day centre during the interim – if any local businesses can help, contact the charity on 0115 9786133 or email jill.davies@radfordcaregroup.org.uk.
