Inspired by its work in the fuel poverty sector, Greenvision Energy has launched its own domestic tariff switching service to encourage consumers to ‘swap and save’.

The Nottingham-based company has recently worked with a number of social housing associations in a bid to help low-income families save money on their energy bills, while increasing the energy efficiency rating of their properties by up to two bands.

Social housing work is completed on a case by case basis, with properties fitted with items including: Dimplex Quantum smart storage heaters, Dimplex Quantum hot water cylinders (which are compatible with solar thermal), voltage optimisation units, water-saving showerheads and aerators, LED lighting and real time energy monitors. Staff also carry out tariff checks and basic benefits checks to ensure residents are receiving all of the allowances they are entitled to.

Founder Paul Campbell said he is always ‘touched’ to hear how much of a difference small changes can make to people’s lives. This has inspired him to roll out his tariff switching service to the the mass market, so that anyone can compare suppliers, for free, and find the cheapest rates.

He said: “We’ve been doing a lot of social housing work recently, particularly on behalf of the National Energy Action (NEA), which shares our passion for eradicating fuel poverty in the UK. For us it’s more than just a job, we have a cup of tea and a chat with tenants, and we go through all of the different innovative solutions they could benefit from before choosing the best fit.

“Sometimes tenants will tell us directly how much they’re pleased with their new equipment, and how much it has helped them to save on their energy bills, to which we always say they’re very welcome. It’s touching.

“But one thing that keeps cropping up again and again is how few people are changing their energy tariff on an annual basis. Sometimes it’s a case that they just forget to contact their energy provider after fixed rate deals or special offers have ended, but more of the time it’s because it’s seen as more hassle than it’s worth. In the majority of cases though, you can swap to a better tariff in 15 minutes or less – saving you around £200 a year. Think of what you could do with that money instead!”
In addition to the gas and electricity tariff switching service, which is for both domestic and commercial customers, Greenvision Energy has launched its own brand of eco-friendly infrared products, called Fusion.

Paul added: “While we work with a number of big brands we’ve always wanted to create something of our own. We see Fusion as the next natural step for our business, and enables us to provide our customers with a wider range of products.

“In other exciting news we’re welcoming two interns from the University of Nottingham this month to help with our marketing and copywriting, as the company gets busier. We’ll also be offering some new products later in the year, so watch this space! The products and services we try and get are usually funded or if not there’s a low rate finance package available so there’s no upfront cost to the end user.”
