Television heroes Bill and Ben the Flowerpot Men challenged When You Wish Upon a Star’s (WYWUAS) furry mascot Wish Bear to a trolley dash this month (15 July) to celebrate a year of success at the charity’s outlet.
The unusual spectacle aimed to raise awareness of WYWUAS’s first charity outlet and celebrate its launch last year. Since it first opened in July 2016, the store has seen many returning customers and plenty of new ones alike all grabbing a bargain and helping the charity grant the wishes of children living with life threatening illnesses.
Based at WYWUAS’s head office at Valley Road in Nottingham, the outlet store aims to offer bargains to shoppers and raise much-needed funds for the magical charity.
General manager, Karen Martt said: “We could not think of a better way to celebrate our outlet’s first anniversary than with a mascot race with our very own Wish Bear. Our aim is to put smiles on little faces and we hope the race bought a smile to everyone’s faces whether they are young or old!
“The funds raised from our outlet helps us to continue granting wishes for seriously ill children and it has become a great way for us to raise awareness of our work locally. Over the course of our anniversary weekend from 15 to 17 July, we will be offering a ten per cent discount to all shoppers as a thank you!”
The one-year-old outlet is stocked with a number of generous donations from local businesses, all of which are brand new and ideal for bargain hunters. Shoppers can expect to find garden furniture, tools, household items, toys, sports equipment and more when visiting the outlet.
“We are extremely grateful to the businesses who donate goods to us and all of the lovely local people who shop with us. The outlet is constantly stocked with new goodies, so we encourage shoppers to frequently visit and keep a look out for new bargains.”
The official charity outlet is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 3.30pm. To take a look, please visit: Futurist House, Valley Road, Nottingham, NG5 1JE
