AMBITIOUS plans in Nottingham were discussed at the most recent Nottingham Means Business (NMB) lunch (30 September), with influential speakers celebrating prosperity in Nottingham.
Speaking at NMB’s latest networking lunch, Julian Carr, commercial director at East Midlands Airport discussed how businesses could work with the airport in its discussions with airlines, supporting its ongoing work to seek out and develop route growth in the East Midlands. Mark Goldby DL also spoke to members, highlighting how manufacturing has continued to strengthen in the city thanks to key relationships with local businesses and SMEs.
Alongside its key speakers, NMB also welcomed Marketing Nottingham & Nottinghamshire’s (MNN) newly appointed chief executive, Brendan Moffett. In his new role Brendan will be leading MNN in promoting Nottingham and Nottinghamshire to potential visitors and investors. NMB is a division of MNN working to engage local businesses.
Simon Gray, chief executive of Nottingham Means Business, said: “Our September lunch was overwhelmingly positive. It was fantastic to hear from Julian and Mark about the opportunities for international travel and manufacturing in the region, showcasing the investment and growth happening here. We were also delighted to welcome Brendan to his first NMB lunch and are looking forward to working with him.
“Our lunch told a number of success stories in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire – really illustrating why Nottingham is a great place to live and work. As always, our lunch presented the opportunity to welcome fantastic businesses as new members – we hope they enjoyed their first event.”
During the lunch NMB welcomed four new members: branding, graphic design and marketing agency Abstrakt Creative, planning consultants Aspbury Planning, financial planning agency Brewin Dolphin and digital agency Purpose Media.
The event was jointly sponsored by the Theatre Royal & Royal Concert Hall Nottingham and the Crowne Plaza hotel. Both shared what it means to be based in Nottingham along with future remodelling and refurbishment plans.
