DHP Family is about to unveil the fruits of the extensive refurbishment of the Borderline in Soho, London, the newest addition to its award winning venue portfolio, re-opening on March 16 2017.
With the overhaul including a significant reconfiguration of the venue layout, DHP expects the improved offer to breathe new life back into what has been described as one of the last surviving landmark live music venues in the heart of London’s Soho district.
Borderline has a rich history with both up and coming artists and established stars playing the venue since it opened in the late 1980s. R.E.M, Rage Against the Machine, PJ Harvey, Oasis and Eric Clapton have all graced its stage along with some UK debuts of some major international artists.
DHP Family’s MD George Akins said: “As well as complete design overhaul, we plan to introduce our award winning model of venue management to bring the Borderline up to the company’s premium offer in terms of design, service and product as well as programming and entertainment.
“It has an amazing music heritage and we want to take that legacy forward to re-establish the Borderline as the leading live music venue in central London for future generations.”
DHP Family, owners of Hackney’s Oslo, Nottingham’s Rock City and the newly relaunched The Garage in Islington, have once again collaborated with designers Zopsigog who worked on both Oslo and The Garage. The interior includes a new cocktail lounge area featuring brushed brass fittings while blackened steel and gold finishes feature elsewhere to create a grown up space to meet the higher expectations of today’s gig goer.
The Borderline’s 300 capacity layout has been greatly improved to create a flowing space that provides the best possible experience for both performer and audience. As well as creating improved sight lines, a high spec sound and light system have been installed.
In addition to the live music offer, there will be an accessible yet progressive club programme launching with guilty pop pleasures every Friday and the best guitar-oriented playlist each Saturday. The live music programme features forthcoming shows from To Kill A King, Into The Ark, and Asylums.
Following significant investment, DHP is confident Borderline can once again become a destination for the best new music alongside rising stars as well as providing a showcase for key international artists and significant underplays.
