Oxjam Beeston returns this weekend

Beeston will be the place to be this Saturday with the return of the much loved Oxjam Beeston Festival set to take over the town, all to raise money for a great cause. Over fifteen venues will be taking part in the huge event, including pubs, bars, cafes and the Middle Street Resource Centre.

Since launching in 2011, Oxjam Beeston has become one of the city’s best annual music festivals and something of a jewel in the Oxjam crown, while raising over £150,000 for Oxfam and showcasing over 1,000 fantastic musical performers.

While in previous years 100% of all funds raised have gone to Oxfam, this year the festival will be donating 25% to a local charity, the wonderful Middle Street Resource Centre, a decision made after sourcing feedback from festival goers. This will provide valuable funds to this much loved and vital local resource – you can find out more about Middle Street Resource Centre here.

As usual, the festival will be free until 6pm, after which wristbands will be required for entry to venues. Wristbands are priced at a very reasonable £12 for adults and just a fiver for 12-18 year old’s, while under 12s go totally free. Under 18s are welcome at all venues until 8pm, while the Star Inn, Bendigo Lounge and the Victory Club will be accepting under 18s all evening. Tickets can be purchased here, or at Oxfam Books and Music or the Star Inn, you can exchange your tickets for a wristband on the day at one of four kiosks – Oxfam shop from 12pm onwards, and the Star Inn, Commercial Inn or Smarty Paws from 5pm – you will also be able to buy wristbands on the day from these venues.

The festival will feature well over 100 acts on the day, kicking off with the Rock Choir who will launch the festival at the Oxfam Shop at 12, through to a silent disco at the Victory Club which will run until midnight.

Among the acts you will be able to check out on the day will be Danny Beardsley (Hop Pole), Kingdom Rapper (Bendigo Lounge, Star Inn), Gallery 47 (Commercial Inn), Paul Carbuncle (Totally Tapped), Herds (Commercial Inn), Clare L Shaw (Yellow Wood Cafe), Beck Stacey (Totally Tapped) and George Gadd (Essen) – you can find a full line up of acts here

As in previous years Oxjam Beeston looks like being an unmissable event and we highly recommend heading down to enjoy some fantastic music in some fantastic venues and all while raising money for great causes.
