Preview: Great Notts Show – Alea Casino Stage – 13 June 2014

The Great Notts Show kicks off today with a whole host of stalls and entertainment for you to enjoy – check out our preview here – on top of that the great folks at I’m Not From London are curating a selection of sets from great Nottingham musical talent on the Alea Casino sponsored main stage situated in the Market Square.

The event will see three days of great music from a host of Nottingham acts so no matter when you’re able to get on down to catch the show you are sure to see a great live performance.

Here’s a look at who you can catch playing today:

It all kicks off today at 1pm with THE CORRIDORS and acoustic trio who cover a host of songs using harmonies and originality.

Following on at 2pm will be the excellent ADAM PETER SMITH, one of the top acoustic talents on the Nottingham scene – and beyond – there is a huge amount of hype surrounding Adam’s eagerly anticipated debut EP, which is due out soon, so why not mosey on down the Square at 2pm and find out why there is such a buzz around this amazing talent.

Ryan Thomas

There is more solo acoustic excellence at 3pm when RYAN THOMAS takes to the stage, fans of Nottingham music will almost certainly have seen hardworking Ryan at numerous gigs and he always puts on a fantastic set blending blues, country and folk stylings to create a unique sound. His debut album ‘Worries and Troubles” was released in April and hit #1 on the iTunes blues charts.

High Hopes Society member DAUDI MATSIKO is up at 4pm to bless you with some of his fantastic solo stuff including music from his recently released, and extremely well received, debut EP.

At 5pm you can enjoy some ukulele aided covers of the likes of Hendrix and Marley courtesy of the duo UP who bring you songs that will make you laugh, cry and dance.

There will be a break from the live music at 6pm as I’m Not From London and Great Notts Show organisers All About Tourism team up for a special pub quiz that will no doubt great great fun.

The music kicks off again at 7pm with the multi-talented, much loved FRAZER LOWRIE who will kick start your evening with his wonderful sounds and infectious lyrics.

Following Frazer will be TAZER at 8pm. This foursome perform blues based rock n roll and have been described as sounding like “The Black Keys in a fist fight with the Rolling Stones” which sounds like all the encouragement you need to check them out.

If you’re a regular reader of NottinghamLIVE or were a listener to our, sadly departed, radio show, you’ll know of our love of Nottingham duo ONEGIRLONEBOY. Having burst onto the scene in 2012 – winning the inaugural Notts Factor, and after playing the likes of Splendour, Tramlines and Ones to Watch last year the duo are now back out gigging after some time in the studio. We’re really excited to see them back on stage and you should be too – they’ll be on stage at 9pm.

Finally, rounding things off on Friday will be ROYSTON DUXFORD who take to the stage at 10pm to bring your night to a close with a foot stomping mix of low down, low-fi country blues and rock and roll. Even after a day in the sun these guys will still have you up dancing.

So as you can see some great live music to enjoy  – and what wonderful weather for it – so get on down to the Market Square for the Great Notts Show – and be sure to check back later for our previews of Saturday and Sunday.
