Legendary East End boy David Essex will be stepping out on the Nottingham this stage as he takes on the lead in the new production The Dishwashers from Morris Panych.

Essex, who recently had a run as Eddie Moon in BBC1 soap Eastenders will take on the role of Dressler in the tale that follows the fortunes of Emmett, a former City high flyer who finds himself going from diner to worker at a top class restaurant after a fall in fortunes. In his new role Emmett meets Dressler, a dominant, self-appointed leader, who has happily been doing the dishes for over thirty years and Moss, a man on the brink of retirement. Amid the soapsuds and dirty dishes Panych delivers a tale of wit and humour as the trio search for existential meaning.

Joining Essex on stage will be Rik Makarem as Emmett and Andrew Jarvis as Moss. Makarem is best known for his role as Nikhil Sharma in Emmerdale while Jarvis’ stage credits include The Lord of the Rings (Theatre Royal Drury Lane) and The Woman in Black (West End).

The Dishwashers will run at Nottingham Theatre Royal from Monday 31 March to Saturday 5th April and will be directed by Nikolai Foster, for more information and tickets click here
