Gallery Review: Riverdance – Royal Concert Hall

‘Spellbinding’ one of the many comments I heard leaving the concert hall last night.

Riverdance’s 20th anniversary show was a massive hit with the audience at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall last night.   The energy and sheer brilliance of the dancing was electrifying but there were quieter more reflective moments too from soloist musicians.

Ryan McCaffrey was superb, he had the audience enthralled, his footwork seemed humanly impossible as he thundered across the stage; most of us have seen clips of Riverdance on tv but seeing dancing to this incredible standard live, was an unforgettable experience.  Emma Warren the lead female dancer was graceful precision at speed, she smiled throughout and never appeared out of breath, outstanding.

The second half had a more international flavour with Russian athletic dancing and flamenco, however the duel, between the American street tap dancers and the Riverdancers was perhaps the highlight of the whole show for me.

The man sitting behind me summed it up with his frequent cheer of “bravo” , the whole show  was deserving of fulsome praise.

Don’t miss it.   Nottingham Concert Hall until Sunday 23rd November, tickets available from www.trch.co.uk
