Established as the story which defines Christmas, Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol is being supersized into a Funny Family Spectacular for the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham Christmas 2019!

 

The miserable miser Ebenezer Scrooge is taught the error of his ways, transformed from skinflint to saviour, bringing joy to the Cratchit family and their son, Tiny Tim.

From the producers of Elf A Christmas Spectacular, the show features a cast of 120 performers including a gospel choir, cirque artistes, live horses, amazing ghosts, a flying four poster bed, dazzling songs, music and dance, and a bullion load of hilarious comedy. Some lucky audience members will walk away with a share of £3,000 cash, given away by Scrooge at every performance!

 

The staging will be enhanced with giant screens, showing both computer graphic backdrops and live action close-ups. The 5,000-seat arena layout will have a 70-foot wide stage and a 60-foot long thrust stage, with some scenes taking place around and above the audience.

 

Star casting will be announced in the early part of 2019.

 

There will be two performances of Scrooge A Funny Family Spectacular at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham on Saturday 28 December 2019 at 3pm and 7pm.

Scrooge A Funny Family Spectacular features a completely new book, music and lyrics, by Jon Conway, Jordan Conway and Olly Ashmore. Father and son team Jon and Jordan run the creative and general management team responsible for Elf A Christmas Spectacular. Jon has created and produced more than 500 pantomimes on every continent. He has created, written, directed and produced musicals in the West End, Broadway, Las Vegas and on cruise ships, as well as TV series on BBC over a 30-year career, most notably Boogie Nights, Happy Days, All The Fun Of The Fair and Simply Ballroom. He and Jordan recently created Illuminasia, the astonishing indoor illumination attraction in Blackpool.

Jon was born in a circus and has brought a lifetime of experience in every genre of entertainment to create this unique spectacular. Jordan has brought his fresh and innovative perspective to staging, being responsible for creating and developing the CGI backgrounds and special effects.  Father and son released their first short feature film in 2018, The Funniest Man In The World, about the legendary 19^th century clown Joe Grimaldi. It is being screened on Boxing Day on Talking Pictures TV (Sky 328, Freeview 81, Freesat 306, Virgin 445).

 

Scrooge – A Funny Family Spectacular is produced by WBP Ltd, the team behind 2018’s Christmas spectacular Elf, which played at Motorpoint Arena Cardiff, Resorts World Arena Birmingham and Motorpoint Arena Nottingham December 2018.
