It’s official! Splendour has now completely sold out. Record numbers are expected to descend on Wollaton Park for this year’s festival on Saturday 23 July – the fastest selling in its nine year history.
Since announcing the full lineup earlier this year – including legendary bands The Human League and UB40 and Grammy Award winner Jess Glynne as headliners – ticket sales have surpassed all previous years with hundreds being snapped up each day over the last few weeks.
The sell out comes after organisers DHP Family and Nottingham City Council took the decision to put an extra 3,000 tickets on sale to meet the exceptional demand and ensure as many people as possible could come and join in the fun at Wollaton Park.
DHP Family is also announcing tickets for next year’s festival will be released on Saturday 23 July at 8pm. With the date confirmed for next year as Saturday 22 July 2017, it is expected many will take advantage of the opportunity to make sure they don’t miss out on the city’s biggest summer day out. Children under 10 will once again be admitted free, and City Card discounts are also in place for Nottingham residents.
George Akins, owner, DHP Family, said: “Splendour is firmly established as the main event of the summer and is going from strength to strength. Tickets have now completely sold out and we’d like to stress that there will not be any available to buy on the day this year. With tickets for next year’s special 10th birthday going on sale on Saturday, we’re sure many will take advantage to get in early to avoid missing out.”
Councillor Dave Trimble, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture at Nottingham City Council, said: “Splendour is the jewel in the crown of our events programme and it is great to hear that this year’s festival has sold out thanks to the great artists lined up by our partners at DHP family. We at Nottingham City Council are proud to provide the infrastructure, security and staging for Splendour at our beautiful Wollaton Park site. Saturday looks set to be a really fun family day out.”
