Former Nottinghamshire County cricketer, Darren Bicknell, will be speaking at a charity event in aid of SportsAid on Friday (8 July) at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground.
Darren played for Nottinghamshire for seven seasons and, as a highly regarded batsman, he batted for the country in three England A-team tours in the early 1990s. He now coaches cricket at Oakham School and is chief executive of the Belvoir Cricket and Countryside Trust which provides cricketing activities for young people.
Nelsons Solicitors, Yorkshire Bank, Trent Bridge, AdamsonJones and PKF Cooper Parry are proud sponsors of the event and are keen to encourage Nottingham’s businesses to attend as the last event, held in March, raised more than £800 for the charity.
SportsAid, which supports young sportspeople aged 12 to 18 who typically have no financial assistance other than that provided by their parents, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.
During the lunch, 14-year-old cyclist Ellissa Bradford from Nottingham will receive an award for her recent sporting achievements. Ellissa came first in the British BMX National Series Rounds three and four this year.
The event will be from 12 noon – 2pm. Tables of 8 are available at a cost of £200 and include a two course meal.
