3 December 2022 – 8 January 2023
Today the Theatre Royal Nottingham unveiled their star-studded line-up for this year’s magical family pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Hugely talented comedian and panto favourite Joe Pasquale will play Muddles, and Steps singer and musical theatre star Faye Tozer will play the Wicked Queen. They were joined by dame extraordinaire and East Midlands local David Robbins, and West End performer Jamal Kane Crawford who will play the Prince.
Announced today, actor musician Lucy Ireland will play Snow White, and Nottingham-born singer and musical theatre performer Natalia Brown will play the Spirit of Pantomime.
Well-known and best-loved for being one of the hardest-working and top-selling live comedians in British comedy today, Joe Pasquale has been delighting audiences for more than 30 years with his live stand-up tours and infectious sense of fun. Joe has toured in several major theatrical productions including Mel Brooks’ The Producers, starred in the West End production of Spamalot and has been crowned King of the Jungle in ITV’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here. Joe returns to the Theatre Royal Nottingham by popular demand, having starred in Peter Pan as Smee in 2018-19, and in Sleeping Beauty as Muddles in 2011-12.
Outside of the Steps-phere, Faye Tozer has also enjoyed an extensive theatre career, starring to great acclaim in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s one-woman musical Tell Me On A Sunday and Singin’ in the Rain at London’s Sadler’s Wells Theatre. In 2018, Faye took part in the sixteenth series of BBC1’s primetime show, Strictly Come Dancing. Coupled with Giovanni Pernice, the pair sashayed into the final and wowed audiences with their incredible footwork, only narrowly missing out on winning the coveted glitter ball trophy.
David Robbins is no stranger to playing dame and has appeared as Sarah the Cook in Dick Whittington, Dotty Doolittle in Beauty and the Beast, Mrs Crusoe inRobinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates and Widow Twankey in Aladdin. He has also performed in several panto seasons as an Ugly Sister in Cinderella. David originally trained as a stage manager, specialising in wardrobe and prop making, and has also trained in puppetry and toured the UK as a puppeteer. Davidreturns to star alongside Joe Pasquale following recently Christmases spent together in panto in Plymouth and Milton Keynes.
Jamal Kane Crawford trained at Masters Performing Arts College and his theatre credits include Ensemble in Back to the Future (Adelphi Theatre, London), Tyrone Jackson in Fame (2019 UK Tour, West End and Troubadour Theatre), The Bodyguard (UK Tour), Guys And Dolls (UK Tour), Thriller Live (West End), Dick Whittington (His Majesty’s Theatre, Aberdeen) and the world premiere of Back to the Future at the Opera House, Manchester in March 2020. Jamal has also performed at the National Television Awards and in music videos for Alexandra Burke.
Lucy Ireland recently made her professional debut in the UK tour of Footloose. She is also one half of writing partnership, Barrow & Ireland, whose new musical, From Here, had its world premiere production at Chiswick Playhouse in July 2021.
Natalia Brown has performed across the UK in productions of Hairspray, Motown The Musical and Oti Mabuse: I Am Here. Natalia is thrilled to be spending Christmas at home, performing at the theatre where it all started for her and where she performed as a pantomime ‘babe’ for many years.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is staged by Crossroads Pantomimes, the world’s biggest pantomime producer, led by Michael Harrison and the creative team behind recent Theatre Royal successes including last year’s production of Robin Hood.
The pantomime will be spectacularly brought to life with an abundance of comedy, sensational song and dance numbers, fabulous costumes, and stunning scenery. Throw in a magical mirror, seven friendly dwarfs, a magical princess, a valiant prince and plenty of audience participation and you have the perfect recipe to outwit the Wicked Queen and let love prevail in this glittering festive treat for all ages.
Book your tickets soon, or you won’t be able to look yourself in the mirror!
