The Bentinck Hotel Citizens Bar & Bistro Relaunch

The Bentinck Hotel hasn’t always had the best reputation in Nottingham, but now under new management, and thanks to a £1.5 million refurbishment, all that it about to change.

Trip Advisor has wiped the slate clean for the hotel on Station Street and the new look premises is now gaining rave reviews.

NottinghamLive Food were lucky enough to be invited to the swanky relaunch party on Thursday 6th February where we were treated to a sparkling drinks reception in the Citizens bar and bistro. Entertainment was provided with music from artists Tashaka and Jono.

The now modern hotel is situated where else but above a Starbucks. The small entrance (opposite the train station, it’s location making it perfect for tourists and business folk alike) opens to reveal a trendy pale wooden stairway. White walls feature eye catching modern art. The old function room is now unrecognisable as a bar and bistro which, like the bedrooms, which the new management were more than happy to show us, have been stunningly yet sympathetically restored retaining many original features including coving to the ceiling and traditional fireplaces.

There are 13 luxury bedrooms, each with a flat screen tv and free wifi. Guests can also purchase a very reasonably priced breakfast if they choose and also claim a discount against their evening meal if they wish to dine at the hotel. The canapés on the evening were absolutely delicious so if they were an indication of the food you can expect when you dine then we can’t wait to go back.

For valentines day and throughout the following weekend the hotel is offering a tempting menu which for £35 includes a glass of Prosecco with canapé, a choice of starter including Carpaccio of Beef with rocket, Parmesan and balsamic dressing. Asparagus soup with warm ciabatta bread or Gravlax with dill and mustard dressing and mixed salad. For the main course you can choose from Rack of Lamb with green beans, caramelised carrots, sautéed potatoes and rosemary jus. Butternut squash open ravioli in chef’s sauce with toasted pine nuts and seasonal salad or Sea bass with pak choi, glazed with ginger, soy honey and chilli, accompanied by new potatoes. The meal is completed with coffee of your choice and a selection of desserts to share

With handy access to the city centre, and transport links nearby, the new look hotel and bistro look set to be success and deservedly so.
