Well what a energetic show that was, quite exhausting to be honest, maybe that’s me showing my age.
The story of Gloria Estefan and her husband’s journey together from meeting to having a family to world wide acclaim and fame was insightful, they were/are not only talented but tenacious.
The show is full of colourful costumes flamboyant dancing and great live Latin crossover music from a superb band.
The leading lady Gloria Estefan [Philippa Stefani) and man Emilio (George Ioannides) were both very good but I really enjoyed the performance of Gloria’s mother also called Gloria (Madalena Alberto) when we travel back further in time to when she was young and in love. She too was a performer until all the troubles hit in their homeland Cuba and they had to flee to America.
The finale ends with everyone on their feet dancing singing and having a great time.
The rhythm’s gonna get you too, for sure, this production runs until Saturday 21st at Nottingham’s theatre royal then after a countrywide tour, it returns to the West End. As an aside this production has the best put together informative programme that we have had for sometime.
