The Theatre Royal Nottingham are delighted to announce the full cast for ROBIN HOOD, which opens on Saturday 11 December 2021 for a four-week run. Joining the previously announced star-studded line-up is Phil Walker as ‘Silly Simon’, Lucy May Barker as ‘Maid Marian’, the magnificent circus performers, The Randols, along with an ensemble comprising of Ricardo Cecilio, Callum O’Brien, Ryan Lee, Jenna Warne, Emily Daniels, Jodie Carmen, Olivia Beau and Lucas Angelo Ward.

 

Phil Walker will play the role of ‘Silly Simon’. Phil’s act has taken him to some weird and wonderful places, from a scout hut on the Shetland Islands to a porta cabin on Mount Alice in the Falklands, basically he’ll go anywhere for a laugh! In 2002, at the famous Comedy Store in Manchester, he was voted City Life Comedian of the Year.  Phil has starred in shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and has entertained troops on tours across the globe. Phil’s television credits to date include ‘Talking Telephone Numbers’, ‘Live at Jongleurs’, ‘Paramount’, ‘The Big Stage’ and ‘Today with Des & Mel’. His stage credits include ‘Naturally Insane: The Life of Dan Leno’ at the Criterion Theatre in London’s West End. Phil has starred in 18 pantomimes to date and is also an established children’s author.

Phil will join the previously announced TV actor Tristan Gemmill as ‘The Sheriff of Nottingham’, renowned actor and one of the best dames in the business Matthew Kelly as ‘Dame Tilly Tuck’, X Factor’s Matt Terry as ‘Robin Hood’, musical theatre star Jodie Prenger as ‘The Spirit of Sherwood’, dance sensations Flawless as ‘The Merry Men’ and the talented ventriloquist Kieran Powell as ‘Alan-a-Dale’.  

 

Much loved actor Tristan Gemmill (The Sheriff of Nottingham) is best known for his long-running role as the beleaguered bistro owner Robert Preston in ITV’s ‘Coronation Street’ and Dr. Adam Trueman in BBC’s flagship medical drama ‘Casualty’. Tristan’s most recent appearance in the West End was playing the title role in ‘The Bodyguard’ opposite Beverly Knight and Alexandra Burke, for which he received rave reviews.

Matthew Kelly (Dame Tilly Tuck) is best known for presenting ITV’s ‘Stars in their Eyes’, Matthew has since gone on to become a star of stage and screen including many pantomimes across the country. Matthew’s previous television work includes ITV’s award-winning thriller ‘Cold Blood’, ‘Benidorm’, ‘Casualty’ and ‘Heartbeat’. His theatre credits include the original Stanley in ‘Funny Peculiar’, a role he created at the Liverpool Everyman, ‘Waiting For Godot’ with Ian McKellen and Roger Rees, and his role as Lennie in ‘Of Mice and Men’ at the Savoy Theatre, which won him an Olivier Award for Best Actor.

 

Matt Terry (Robin Hood) is best known for being crowned as the winner of the thirteenth series of ITV’s ‘The X Factor’ in 2016.  Since then, Matt has been recording and writing music all over the world. He had a top 3 hit with his Ed Sheeran-penned winner’s single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ and featured on Enrique Iglesias’ smash Summer single ‘Subeme La Radio’ with Sean Paul, which spent 14 weeks in the Top 10. In addition to music, Matt has also fronted his own radio show for Capital FM and has toured the world in leading roles in ‘DreamWorks’ Madagascar The Musical’ and Broadway’s ‘Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical’.

Jodie Prenger (The Spirit of Sherwood) is best known for winning the BBC series ‘I’d Do Anything’ and has a host of theatre credits to her name including Nancy in ‘Oliver!’ at Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, ‘A Taste Of Honey’ (National Theatre), ‘Spamalot’ (Playhouse Theatre and UK Tour) and ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ (Theatre Royal Haymarket). Jodie has also toured all over the country and starred in many musicals including ‘Calamity Jane’, ‘Tell Me on a Sunday’, and ‘Shirley Valentine’.  Awards include the Theatregoers’ Choice Whatsonstage Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical.

Dance sensations Flawless (The Merry Men) are an award-winning entertainment act, with over 16 years of professional industry experience. Since wowing the judges, and being voted for by millions as star finalists, on TV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, Flawless have become a household name.  They have appeared in smash hit movies, headlined several times for the Royal Family, performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert, and the Opening Ceremony for the London Paralympic Games.  They heated things up live on the dance floor with BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ professionals and made history collaborating with the exceptional English National Ballet on tour, as well as completing four hugely successful national tours of their own.

Kieran Powell (Alan-a-Dale) is a hugely sought-after ventriloquist who, together with his puppet friends, is considered one of the top ventriloquist acts in the country. Year-round, Kieran can be seen performing aboard the world’s most prestigious cruise liners to packed auditoriums, night after night.

Robin Hood features all the ingredients of a perfect pantomime; a fabulous cast and orchestra, laugh out loud comedy, bundles of audience participation, stunning scenery and special effects, beautiful costumes and plenty of boos and hisses for all the family to enjoy. This production is delivered in partnership with The National Lottery.  It comes following The National Lottery’s support for pantomimes across the UK in 2020 when it provided the necessary funds to make possible productions when social distancing meant audience numbers were limited.  The money for this initiative came from a National Lottery promotional fund.
