To most people professional-wrestling, the oft-derided entertainment sport, is best known for the huge American organisation WWE (formerly WWF until if clashed with the panda’s) and the likes of Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin and, of course, Hollywood’s newest action superstar The Rock.
However wrestling also has a proud history in Britain, most people growing up in the 80’s will remember Saturday wrestling and the likes of Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks, and, while British wrestling may no longer adorn your television screens it is still bubbling away with small organisations across the globe.
In Nottingham the premier organisation is HOUSE OF PAIN, a wrestling school that has been running for almost a decade offering training to wrestlers of all ability’s from beginners right through to the most experienced – now the school has teamed up with local promoter Harvery Dale for the launch of a new promotion HOUSE OF PAIN: EVOLUTION, which will kick off with an action packed show at Nottingham’s Britannia Hotel this Sunday.
The line up for the family friendly show includes seven already announced matches including a four way main event featuring former TNA star Doug Williams.
Other matches include “The Bastard” Dave Mastiff v T-Bone, “Special Edition” Joseph Conners v “The Juice” CJ Banks and a tag team match up between Battle Squad: Awesome and Team Ego.
Check out our interviews with promoter Harvey Dale and House of Pain owner and head trainer Paul “Stixx” Grint about the show and the future plans for the promotion.
The action starts at 2.30pm and tickets are Front Row: £13.50, General Admission: £10, Kids: £6 and Family/Groups: £38
