As the Hockley Hustle gears up for its return next month organisers have also announced the return of Young Hustlers a programme of fun and exciting creative events aimed at young people.
A cardboard city, silent disco, Big Fish Little Fish Raves and the first Young Hustlers open mic are just some of the events that will make up the standalone event that takes place around the Sneinton area and will also feature beatboxers, poets, dancers, drummers, graffiti artists and circus acts.
Youngsters can try out beatboxing with Motormouf, take part in a singing workshop with Honey Williams, choir leader of the wonderful Gang of Angels, and enjoy a Djembe Drumming workshop with percussionist Biant Singh as part of a series of musical workshops at Carousel.
At the Booth of Truth, in collaboration with BACKLIT gallery, kids can record themselves making sounds and have them pressed onto vinyl before their eyes before taking them away, they can even create their own artwork for the record sleeve.
Acclaimed family rave Big Fish Little Fish are coming back to Young Hustlers and will be at Nonsuch Studios, while the first ever Young Hustlers Open mic, hosted by poet Ben McPherson, will be taking place at Blend and is open to anyone under the age of 18.
There will also be dance workshops at the Brazilian Cultural Centre, Art workshops led by Coleen Francis and Dizzy Ink at Carousel and a chance to lean circus skills at The Circus Hub, plus much much more.
All in all Young Hustlers is set to be a fantastic day of fun for all the family, what’s more your Young Hustlers wristband gains you access to the main Hockley Hustle festival during the day (subject to individual venues own entry rules).
